Indu Lagna calculator
Find your Indu Lagna, the sign many Vedic astrologers read for money. It is worked out from your rising sign, your Moon and the planets that rule your house of fortune. You get your money sign, the key planet for your money, and a short report on the route money tends to take for you.
Date, exact time and place of birth. The money sign starts from your rising sign, which changes about every two hours.
What Indu Lagna is
Indu is a name for the Moon, and a lagna is a starting point in the chart. Your rising sign is the first one. Indu Lagna is a second, read for money: the sign through which money tends to arrive.
It belongs to the Jaimini school of Vedic astrology, and many astrologers use it today. It is not in the classical texts our readings are checked against, so we call it a method, not a classical rule.
How the money sign is found
In this method each planet carries a number, from the Sun's 30 down to Saturn's 1. Two planets count: the ruler of your 9th house, the house of fortune, and the ruler of the 9th sign from your Moon. Their numbers are added and counted around the zodiac from your Moon. The sign it lands on is your money sign.
Your result shows every number, so you can see where your sign came from.
The key planet for your money
Our reading goes one step further. Your money point sits at a degree in that sign, and that degree falls in one of the 27 nakshatras, the Moon's star divisions. The planet that rules that nakshatra is the key planet for your money.
We read the house it sits in, which is where money tends to be made, and the planets that aspect it, each adding its own side of money. Then we follow every planet linked to your money sign through its own nakshatra, which shows the route money tends to take.
What it can and can't tell you
It points to where money tends to come from and how it tends to come: through work you are seen doing, through a partner, slowly through patience. It says nothing about how much, or when.
It is a tendency to check against your own life, not a forecast, and not financial advice.

A second starting point in the Vedic chart, read for money. Indu means the Moon. The sign is worked out from your rising sign, your Moon and the planets that rule the 9th house of fortune from each.
How is Indu Lagna calculated?
Take the ruler of the 9th sign from your rising sign and the ruler of the 9th sign from your Moon. Add their numbers in this method (Sun 30, Moon 16, Mars 6, Mercury 8, Jupiter 10, Venus 12, Saturn 1). Divide by 12 and count the remainder from your Moon's sign, where a remainder of 0 counts as 12. The calculator above does all of it and shows each step's result.
What if no planet sits in my money sign?
That is common, and the sign still works through its ruler and the planets that aspect it. The key planet, the ruler of your money point's nakshatra, is read either way.
Does a strong money sign mean I will be rich?
It shows where money tends to come from and how easily, not an amount. Two people with the same money sign can earn very different sums. Read it as a pattern to check against your life.
Why does it need my exact birth time?
The 9th house is counted from your rising sign, which changes about every two hours. An hour out can change the ruler, and with it your money sign.
Is Indu Lagna in the classical texts?
It comes from the Jaimini school and is used widely today, but it is not in the classical texts our readings are checked against. So we present it as a method, and the key planet step as our own reading.
